About us
Papakura Private Hospital
The facility has a proud history of providing hospital level of care to the Papakura & surrounding communities since 1989. In 2004, under the ownership of Gaylene & Owen Purdon, its capacity was enlarged to the present 46 beds. Further changes occurred in 2012 when the facility was certified by the Ministry of health to provide care for a maximum of 6 rest home level residents in addition to its other 40 licensed hospital beds. In 2017 Lisa Gou and Steven Wang took on the ownership of Papakura Private Hospital.
Even though a contracted medical service is provided residents do have the ability to retain the services of their own long term local GP should they so desire. This is an arrangement that the GP must be happy to provide – the cost for this service will be the responsibility of the resident less a $20 subsidy provided by the facility.
In addition the facility holds a contract for respite care at hospital level of dependency with Counties Manukau District Health Board. This service is available to those caring for hospital level patients in the community and is run in conjunction with the Counties Manukau Needs Assessment Service who coordinate the bed availability with the facility staff. A Young Physically Disabled contract is also in place with the Ministry of Health and is coordinated by Taikura Trust.
Visiting hours are open & visitors of all ages are welcomed. Pets are able to visit by prior arrangement.
The team at Papakura Private Hospital is very proud to announce that they received a period of 3 years certification at its recent certification audit under the Health & Disability Sector Standards.
